A Trap for He-Man is a book in the Ladybird collection. Written by John Grant and illustrated by Robin Davies. The book was released in 1983.

Summary[]

Skeletor hatches a plan to rid himself of He-Man once and for all, by luring him into a trap in the Valley of Osgor - an evil part of Eternia shrouded in eternal night.

Using a mentalite crystal to amplify his thought energy, Skeletor sends a false summons to Teela, making her believe He-Man is calling to her for help. Teela sets out from Castle Grayskull and begins a dangerous journey across Eternia's hostile country to answer He-Man's summons.

Teela is aided part of the way by Stratos, who carries her across the ocean of Gnarl. However, this attracts the attention of Mer-Man, who creates a water storm, disabling Stratos and imprisoning Teela in a bubble of ice. Teela is freed by a friendly narwhal, and continues her journey through a forest. Here she is pursued by Beast Man and a variety of other creatures. During the chase Teela is knocked unconscious, and then taken to Skeletor by Beast Man.

Teela's capture is observed by a recovered Stratos, who races to find He-Man. Together with Battle Cat, He-Man sets off after Teela to the Valley of Osgor.

In the valley, Skeletor imprisons Teela and prepares his minions, the Shadow People, for He-Man's arrival. Knowing his power will be diminished by the endless dark of the valley, He-Man uses his battle-shield to reflect the sun's rays into the valley. Blinded and terrified by the dazzling light, the Shadow People flee, destroying Skeletor's mentalite crystal in the confusion.

The smashed crystal releases a wave of blinding energy, which shatters the overhanging cliffs and allows Eternia's sunlight to flood the valley. Furious, Skeletor unleashes a barrage of energy bolts at He-Man, but his shots are reflected and cause a rockslide, trapping Skeletor behind a pile of boulders.

As He-Man, Teela and Battle Cat leave the valley, Teela predicts the sunlight will restore the Valley of Osgor to a place as fair as any in all Eternia.
