Caligars are a race of lizard-like humanoids who live in Subternia. A long time ago, the Caligars and Speleans, another Subternian race, fought alongside King Randor but at some unknown point relations between the two races became strained, leading them to becoming bitter enemies.
The Caligars are ruled by Ceratus, and regard the Evil Warrior Whiplash as a traitor. Masters of the Universe Classics adds more depth to Whiplash's betrayal by revealing him as Ceratus' younger brother, who grew up bitter under the rule of his older brother.
