Clawdeen is Catra's pink lion. Clawdeen only appears once during the She-Ra series' run, and in that episode she scares the rebels into the Cage-Mines so The Horde can capture them. Bow traps her in one of the Cage-Mines and she is never seen again.[1]
In the 1985 Ladybird POP books, Clawdeen is female (despite looking like a male lion in the animated series) and only referred to as a giant cat. Nonetheless she can talk and is Catra's mode of transport. She was portrayed as often lazy and temperamental. She also appears in the mini-comic "A Born Champion", but has a minor role.
In the 1986 German MOTU Audio plays, Clawdeen had been a feared and respected sorceress on Etheria until Catra persuaded her to transform into a lioness. Trapped in her feline form, she remained with Catra, as the cat fairy was her sole home to restore her human form. As the lioness, she only had a fraction of her original powers.
The 1986 UK POP Comic Magazines presented a unique take on Clawdeen. An alien creature from another world, Clawdeen taught Catra how to transform into a panther. She lived with her mistress in Cat Tower and accompanied her both on independent missions and as an agent of the Horde. She had a strong sense of smell, and while she enjoyed the scent of food, she despised perfume.
