The Heat Ray is a device that features in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
Invented but not quite perfected by Skeletor, the Heat Ray was a powerful ray-cannon. It still required testing and adjusting and was therefore held in a specially protected room inside Snake Mountain. When Skeletor held Man-At-Arms as a prisoner to do his bidding, he hoped that Man-At-Arms might be able to correct the heat ray and make it work properly.
When He-Man and Teela came to Snake Mountain to rescue Man-At-Arms, Teela proceeded to cause a distraction. Finding the control panels for the Heat Ray, she randomly pushed some buttons, causing it to go haywire and shoot it's ray randomly. This soon caused a fire to erupt inside Snake Mountain. While Teela did not do anything to put out the fire, she did use her sword to cut the cannon part off the heat ray, causing it to stop firing.
