Personality[]

Regal and authoritative, Randor strives to lead and rule his kingdom fairly but firmly. However, he is unpopular with some of his subjects and apparently won't do anything about any problems that lie outside his city, such as poaching in the jungle. Still, Randor has a strong and dedicated sense of right and wrong, as well as a respect for the laws of his kingdom, such that he never sought the Power of Grayskull for himself and will not allow for anyone to break the law that forbids wielding the Power (which inevitably included his son, Adam). Randor displayed some pride and arrogance, refusing to even consider request for help form the Merfolk or the Avions at the suggestion of his general, Dolos.

The loss of his brother and son affected Randor deeply, as he often looks upon statues of them, apparently with regret and mourning.

Upon reuniting with Adam, he was overjoyed and quickly asserted the notion of making Adam a worthy prince (in Randor's eyes, that is) and then ordering Adam, that he and his friends must relinquish the Power of Grayskull. When Adam refused and fled, Randor was dismayed, realizing he'd just driven his son away, and despite their differences of opinions he still cared for Adam that he didn't want his son to be involved in any violence or danger.

Randor seemed to have a positive opinion of his younger brother, Keldor, believing Keldor died tragically until he saw what his brother had become, the Dark Master of Havoc, Skeletor. but instead of acknowledging the undead tyrant's new appearance, Randor mocked him by asking if the skull-faced villain had gotten a haircut and laughing it up with his guards.

Seeing the Masters of the Universe in action against the Dark Masters, Randor acknowledged Eternia now needed the Power of Grayskull.

Biography[]

King Randor was the ruler of Eternos and as result is the hegemon of the Eternian republic , as an heir to the Grayskull, of all of Eternia. But he refused to call upon the power of Grayskull himself, while his younger brother, Prince Keldor wanted the power all to himself. At one point, Keldor took Randor's young son Adam to Castle Grayskull and neither of them returned. When Randor and the Red Legion arrived, Grayskull, Keldor and Adam were gone, and all that was left was the sword. Randor blamed this loss upon the power of Grayskull instead of his brother's treachery.

Ten years later, Randor was not a popular ruler. He was especially disliked in Eternos at street level and below, where Teela usually operated. Over in the jungle of the Tiger Tribe, Randor was not popular either, because he did nothing to stop poachers from raiding the tribes.[1]

One night, General Dolos informed the King about the theft of the Sword of Grayskull. Randor was reminded of how much he had lost thanks to that weapon. He ordered Dolos to find the thief and take the sword back from her. [2]

Some time later, Dolos informed the King that the thief had been identified as a Hand Witch from the lower wards, and that she was accompanied by a muscle bound brute. Dolos proposed to consider aid from Eternos' neighbours in the sea (the Mer-Folk) and sky (the Avians) but Randor refused to contact them and ordered Dolos to widen his search. [3]

Randor found himself drawn to the statue erected in honor of his brother and his son. Just as he left to head elsewhere, he noticed the Hand Witch thief had returned to Eternos, together with several young accomplices and a giant green tiger. The witch used a spell to stop Randor from shouting for his guards long enough for them to escape. Later, Randor returned to the statue, where he found a note had been attached to it saying that Keldor was still alive...[4]

A mysterous storm began to brew above the city of Eternos. Tuvar reported to King Randor that there has been no sign of General Dolos since the day he stole that cubic of Kirbinite from the vault. Randor witnessed a stike of lightning from his balcony, and recognized it as coming from the Sword of Grayskull rather than the impending storm. He ventured out into the market place flanked by four Royal Guards and confronted He-Man and ordered his men to arrest him and take the sword into custody. At that moment the storm hit, and Randor accused He-Man of causing it. But Randor was surprise when He-Man attempted to defend the King from the weather, and they decided to work together and help guide the people of Eternos to safety.

Randor was astonished to learn that He-Man had shared the Power of Grayskull with several other "Masters of the Universe". It was Randor's belief that few are responsible enough to wield the power for good, and therefore no King of Eternos had ever trusted himself with it since the time of the original King Grayskull. During the storm, Randor proved his decency by trying to defend a young boy from debris. However, He-Man could not stand idly by and shielded Randor and the child from the debris with his own, more powerful body. Randor then revealed that his former Man-At-Arms had begun a defence shield to withstand an assault from the elements such as this. When He-Man replied that Kronis was working for Keldor now, Randor deduced that it was He-Man who had left the note at the statue.

Randor rushed headlong into the storm, which took the shape of the Havoc Staff. He-Man shouted for the storm to stay away from his father and called upon "lightning strike" to defeat it. He then transformed back into Adam infront of Randor's eyes. Randor was overcome with joy, but surprised when Adam told him he did not remember his time at the palace at all. The King insured him that he would make him into a prince again in no time, then ordered him and his friends to relinquish the power of Grayskull. For not even the prince was above the law. Adam refused and transformed into He-Man again and left by jumping upward into the sky.[5]

When the Red Legion returned to Eternos sooner than expected and begon to aim their armed weapons at the palace, Randor ordered the new shields to be raised around the city for protection. Unfortunately the shield did not hod up agains the Havoc Power of Skeletor. Randor was finally reunited with his long lost brother, now Skeletor, but instead of reacting shocked as Skeletor had hoped, Randor made a joke about Skeletor's new appearance. He then learned that General Dolos had been under Skeletor's spell for some time and that Trap Jaw had overriden a lot of the palaces' RK units.

Then the young Masters of the Universe arrived to confront the "Dark Masters". Randor shouted for his son to run and save himself, but Skeletor forced Randor to watch the fight from the balcony instead. However, one of the RK units was really Orko in disguise, who stunned Dolos and the other bots and accompanied Randor onto the streets below where the battle was raging. Skeletor revealed that he had now taken control of all of the guards in Eternos and had sent the Red Legion to attack Castle Grayskull.

Orko cast a spell to teleport the heroes, including King Randor, to a safer location nearby. There Adam de-powerd the masters, and his father told him that he had misjudged his son and that Eternia needed the power of Grayskull now more than ever. Teela and Orko decided to stay behind with the King to protect the city while the others hurried back to Grayskull. However, soon after this Skeletor entered the throne room and took the throne of Eternos for his own.[6]
