Kobra Khan as seen in the Mike Young Productions animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002).
History[]
Kobra Khan was a descendent of the Snake Men. A powerful warrior capable of spitting corosive venom from his fangs, Khan was, at some point, captured and imprisoned in the Royal Palace dungeons, but eventually managed to stage a breakout. Upon his release, he made his way to Snake Mountain where he pledged his allegiance to Skeletor.
However, Khan's true goal was to delve deep beneath Snake Mountain to find the Snake Pit, the portal to the void in which his ancestors, King Hiss and the Snake Men, were imprisoned eons ago. His scheme was foiled by He-Man and Zodak before he could succeed, but he did manage to free General Rattlor and escape[1]. Working with Rattlor, Khan later rescued Skeletor's Evil Warriors from the palace jail, and revealed to Evil-Lyn that Skeletor had betrayed her and left her in prison to rot. Promising that King Hiss would reward her, Khan enlisted Evil-Lyn to help free Hiss as revenge on Skeletor[2].
Some time later, with Lyn's assistance, Khan and Rattlor released King Hiss and his army of Snake Men from the void. Despite owing their freedom to Khan's scheming, the other Snake Men dismissed him as but a puny descendant of their kind who had never tasted real battle or blood[3].
Despite Rattlor's contempt for Khan, King Hiss was impressed with his cunning and loyalty. Khan strived to outdo Rattlor in Hiss's eyes, and the two often competed for the King's favour[4].
