Character history[]
Mini-comics[]
Mantenna was a member of the Horde who acted as a spy for Hordak. His extendable eyes acted as sensors which enabled him to survey his enemies, as well as fire powerful energy blasts[1].
She-Ra: Princess of Power[]

Mantenna was a member of Force Captain Adora's, and later, Catra's, force squad. In his youth, he attended the Horde academy on Horde World[2], and Hordak was implied that he, like other members of the force squad, was a product of Horde science[3].
Mantenna had the ability to fire energy beams of different varieties from his eyes, such as stun beams, gravity distortion beams, and freeze rays. Mantenna often acted very nervous, stuttering and stumbling over his words. He could also see over large distances and act as a spy for Hordak.
Despite his useful abilities, Mantenna's bumbling often earned him Hordak's ire, with the Horde leader frequently amusing himself by sending Mantenna down the trap door in his throne room. On one occasion, however, Mantenna did manage to have his revenge and sent Hordak himself down the trap door[4].
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2002)[]
- Main article: Mantenna (2002)
Mantenna was a member of Hordak's Evil Horde. An inectoid creature with sharp fangs and eyes which could fire laser blasts. Mantenna fought alongside Hordak when the ruthless leader laid siege of Castle Grayskull (2002) with an army of Horde Troopers.
During the battle, Mantenna attacked King Grayskull, shooting laser blasts from his eyes at the King, who grabbed Mantenna by the neck and easily tossed him aside. Mantenna was later imprisoned in the dimension of Despondos alongside his master[5].
Masters of the Universe Classics[]
A Rebrunk Nurus from Phelibio IX, Mantenna's real name was Glieeb-Tolio Jak Us, and he had the frightening ability to see and hear over great distances with his highly sensitive ears and periscope screeners. He could do more than just see with his wide eyes, and could fire a variety of paralysis beams, stun beams and laser waves. Mantenna was also an agile scout and often went out well ahead of his Horde companions to make sure the way was clear for meandering and pillaging[6]. Mantenna would later fight alongside the Horde in the first and second Ultimate Battlegrounds.
