The Manticore as seen in the Filmation animated seriesHe-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
The Manticore was a fearsome creature that had the head of a lion, a humanoid body and a spiked tail. It lived in a cave and towered over humans.
History[]
A large Manticore suddenly faced Adam, Cringer and Orko after a sudden lightning storm brought about by Tauron's summoning spell trapped them in its cave. Orko encouraged Adam to hold aloft his Power Sword, but the Manticore knocked it out of his hand with it's spiked tail. Orko himself was all out of magic, but when Tauron cast his summoning spell once more, Orko's Uncle, Montork appeared in the cave. Orko embraced his uncle and told him they had to flee, to which Montork replied that 'this puny beast' was probably 'only a baby'.
Adam took advantage of the situation by grabbing his sword and transform himself into He-Man and Cringer into Battle Cat without Montork or the Manticore noticing it. Montork tried to use his magic against the Manticore, but just like his nephew, he found that his powers were greatly diminished on the planet Eternia. Battle Cat grabbed onto the Manticore's tail, but was shook off. He-Man then told the Manticore to pick on someone his own size. As the Manticore bore down a single claw on him, He-Man grabbed two fingers by the nails and quipped that the Manticore should have 'these things trimmed'. He then used his mighty strength to pick up the giant beast and throw it into a wall, knocking it out temporarily. He-Man then quickly punched his way out of its cave and blocked the entrance with a large boulder before the Manticore could follow them.

- In the 2021 Netflix series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the body of a slain Manticore was visible after Savage He-Man went on a rampage in the episode Reason and Blood.
