Masters of the Universe: Masterverse #1 is the first issue in a four part limited series which explores multiple incarnations of He-Man across the multiverse. It was published by Dark Horse Comics on February 15th, 2023. The story was written by Tim Seeley.

"By the horror of Grayskull..."

After He-Man defeats an attempt by Skeletor to conquer Castle Grayskull, Zodac visits the Sorceress, expressing doubts about Adam's commitment to his role as He-Man. To prove Adam is worthy, the Sorceress decides to show him other incarnations of the most powerful man in the universe from across alternate realities.

In the first universe, half of Eternia has been plunged into darkness, and Prince Adam delves into a dark subterranean cavern, where he is attacked by Webstor, Batros and finally, Scare Glow. To defeat Scare Glow, Adam chants "By the Horror of Grayskull!" and transforms into the terrifying Castle Grayskull Man to slay him.

He-Man meets the Goddess.

In the next, more comedic, universe, an Eternia which has endured the great wars; a grumbling Adam, a barbarian from a primitive village, is ordered to dispose of the village waste posts, and ventures into the jungle to dump them somewhere. While there, he is attacked by a green tiger who wants to eat him, and runs into the the Green Goddess to be her champion against the invading Skeletor and his evil warriors. Gifting him with armour and weapons, she sends him to save Grayskull. However, Skeletor easily destroys all of his weapons, despite the Goddess conjuring up more and more vehicles. Eventually, she gifts Adam with a "play box" (a computer game console) and some snacks, and Skeletor quickly joins He-Man for a game inside Grayskull, calling off the fight.

As they watch events unfold, The Sorceress tells Zodac that despite their base impulses and the difference of their circumstances, both versions of He-Man remained heroic and proved themselves, however, Zodac asks to see more...

  • While the story explores many different realities, the main wraparound segments are set in the Masters of the Universe: Revelation universe.
  • This story marks the first appearance of the Revelation incarnation of Zodac.
  • In the dark universe in the first story, Adam transforms into Castle Grayskullman.
  • The second story, which presents a much more comedic tone, is inspired by the early mini-comics.
