Mega Construx, now know as just Mega is a Mattel owned toyline of Lego compatible construction toys.
In 2020, when Mattel started making Masters of the Universe toys again, they did MOTU in many toy lines and form factors, including Fisher Price - Little People, Hot Wheels, Eternia Minis, Micro Collection, Motu Origins. So of course, Mega Construx was going to be one of them.
History[]
The company started out as a Canadian company called Ritvik Holdings. In the mid 80s they started making Lego compatible construction toys under the brand, Mega Bloks. After winning a lawsuit from Lego over Lego's expired patent, the name of the company was changed to Mega Bloks, and they made a big splash with their Dragons (2002-2009) toyline.
In 2006 the company name was changed again to Mega Brands, as they had expanded past just construction toys. In 2014 Mattel bout Mega Brands, and changed the name of the construction toys to Mega Construx. In 2022, the name of the construction toy line was again changed to just Mega.
Other brands currently available in the Mega construction toy lines include, Thomas the Tank Engine, video game franchises Call of Duty and Halo, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Power Rangers, American Girl, Monster High, Pokémon, Destiny and various Nintendo properties.
