Nowwyn was a previous Head Sorcerer of Mystacor and was the mentor of Shadow Weaver when she was known as Light Spinner.

When The Horde invaded the planet Etheria and took the Black Garnet for themselves, Light Spinner suggested that the Guild take action. She altered the Spell of Obtainment and proposed to cast it, thereby taking power of the planet for themselves. Norwyn refused to use this dangerous spell.
Light Spinner went ahead and proceeded with her spell, using the assistance of her young student Micah. But when Micah realized that the power they were unleashing was evil, he drew back, and Light Spinner's face was damaged in the backlash. Norwyn and other guild members appeared, and Shadow Weaver was cast out of their ranks. Light Spinner had become stronger than all the others combined. She knocked back two other sorcerers, and made Norwyn disappear into a black dimension. A black, swirling cloud appeared above the him, and enveloped Norwyn's head. Then it lifted him up and appeared to swallow his entire body.[1]
