Following on from the attack previously, Duncan retrieves and repairs one of Randor's drones at Castle Grayskull. When it awakens, Duncan is shocked to find that the drone refers to himself as "Orko", and has taken on a whole new personality.

Meanwhile, the Masters of the Universe begin their training, watched over by Eldress, the previous Sorceress of Castle Grayskull. She explains that there have been no new Masters of the Universe since Grayskull sat on the throne. When questioned why, she explains that they decreed no ruler would harness the power of the castle.

Despite their training, they're interrupted when Orko accidentally sets on fire one of the floating libraries; Eldress angrily remarks that they were first edition books. Teela is able to put out the fire, but all are surprised when Duncan explains that the drone believes he can do magic. In a flutter of anger, the drone leaves hastily for King Randor's palace.

Arriving at the palace, the drone introduces himself as Orko, but finds conflict when the guards remark that Randor outlawed magician droids. Orko is confused upon hearing the name "Randor" and questions how long he has been slumbering. Nonetheless, he is saddened when he is unable to perform a small feat of magic to prove himself.

In pursuit of Orko, the Masters of the Universe arrive at the palace in search of him. They are unable to find him initially and are almost captured when they are spotted by King Randor. Adam is surprised to find his father looking at a statue of him and Keldor, and remarks that his father really did care about him and remembers him. Having been spotted by Randor, the Masters of the Universe are barely able to escape through the use of Teela's magic.

Meanwhile, Kronis has infiltrated the palace disguised as General Dolos to acquire the powerful metal Kirbinite for Keldor. After acquiring it, he finds himself trapped, unable to escape due to a lockdown. He is able to reprogram Orko, forcing Orko to create a diversion and distraction allowing him to escape.

Still attempting to rescue Orko, the Masters of the Universe are forced to use their abilities to fight against the guards and rescue Orko, overriding Kronis' orders. Randor eventually becomes aware of the fact that Keldor is still alive.
