The chilling Spirit

The Spirit of Grayskull first appears in the first wave of Masters of the Universe Minicomics as a skull-shaped cloud of smoke that emerges from Castle Grayskull and speaks to the Heroic Warriors as the chilling voice of the castle itself.

History[]

Mini Comics[]

In the second minicomic, King of Castle Grayskull, the Spirit bestowes the honor of guarding Castle Grayskull upon Teela and explains to her how only the one who has found both halves of the Power Sword can claim the throne of Grayskull, as well as all the secrets of the universe. He mentions to her that one half is hidden at Eternia's highest point and the other beneath its harrdest rock, but is unaware that Skeletor is listening in and uses this information to obtain both halves of the sword and proclaim himself King of the castle. After Skeletor is defeated by Teela, He-Man and Battle Cat, the Spirit sends the two halves into another dimention so they cannot easilly be located again. As the heroes depart, the Spirit seemed to smile, knowing that at the proper time He-Man would prove himself to be the true King of Castle Grayskull.

Filmation He-Man Cartoon[]

The Spirit of Grayskull also appears in the Filmation series as a disembodied head who talks with the Sorceress and other characters such as her daughter Teela, whom he assists in becoming the Sorceress when she is exiled to another dimension by Skeletor.
