The Mind Lens is the 22nd episode of The New Adventures of He-Man.
Skeletor recovers the lost Mind Lens of Denebria and uses it to take over the minds of anyone he wants, including Grot, Hydron and even He-Man.
Plot Summary[]
Skeletor and two of the Evil Mutants were searching for the lost Mind Lens of Denebria in a cave near Gorn City. Quakke was using a Terrorclaw while BH used both a Terrortread and his head. But it was Skeletor himself who uncovered the Mind Lens, and, after laughing at the inscription upon it's side, began using it.
His first victim was Grot, whom Skeletor forced to destroy his beloved garden, to the amazement of Drissi and Adam of Grayskull. When Grot dislodged an entire tree, Adam was just in time to pull Caz away from it. After a while, Grot passed out. Skeletor then set his sights on taking over the mind of Captain Hydron, who was piloting the Starship Eternia with Flipshot. Using a more subtle form of manipulation, Skeletor told Hydron to command Flipshot to retreat the ship from battle against the Mutant Mothership.
After landing the Starship, Hydron showed confusion about what had just happened. But Skeletor forced him to go to the Inner Council and deliver a message of peace and trust the evil Mutants. When Master Sebrian objected, Hydron threatened to use force instead of words. Flipshot and Adam realized that Hydron was about to take off in the Eternia and managed to slip aboard just in before it launched. Hydron was heading for Levitan with intend to obliterate it. After Hydron used a stungun on Flipshot, Adam transformed himself into He-Man, knocked Hydron to the ground and crushed the gun with one hand. Finding the controls of the ship destroyed, He-Man had to climb outside the starship to manually turn the thrusters to change it's course.
Skeletor decided to take over He-Man's mind next. Even though He-Man was fighting back, he had to obey when Skeletor ordered him to wreck the Starship Eternia. Meanwhile Hydron and Flipshot regained consciousness and managed to land the damanged starship in the Oasis. When Skeletor made him pick up the two Galactic Guardians and dangle them over a cliff, He-Man managed to refuse the order to drop them. He ran off to find a way to deal with Skeletor on his own.
While the four Scientists of Primus were looking for an explanation, Master Sebrian found information about the origin of the Mind Lens in a book from the oldest section of the Library of Humanity in his home. Sebrian discovered that the Mind Lens could be defeated if a group of Primans would work together in focussing their minds. Meanwhile, Werban made an announcement to exile He-Man to the furthest asteroid as he had become a threat to every citizen of Primus. But Sebrian explained to him that the actions of He-Man were caused by Skeletor contolling the Mind Lens.
Sebrian placed Mara, Drissi, Caz, Grot, Hydron, Flipshot and the four Scientists in a circle and instructed them to hold hands and concentrate on He-Man. But they needed more power, and Sebrian managed to persuade Werban to join them as well. This allowed He-Man enough clearness of mind to oppose Skeletor and Flogg together with a squadron of Astrosubs. He-Man was even able to turn the tables on Skeletor and have him relate an order to Flogg against his will by telling Flogg the shield was down and he could begin his attack.
The forces of good soon triumph over the Mutant fleet. Later, while Skeletor and Flogg are arguing on the Mothership, Skeletor fired a blast of his Skull Staff at Flogg, but hits and destroys the Mind Lens instead.
