The Variable High-frequency Oscillator (or VHO) is a device that features in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
Invented by Man-At-Arms, the VHO was a device which emited a high frequency annoying to most animal lifeforms. It was contructed in response to a call for help from Royal Historian Hovar, who found himself and his son Justin under attack from various dangerous animals on Selkie Island.
Teela and Prince Adam, aided by He-Man transported the VHO across the Crystal Sea but were attacked by a gigantic Kraken. The Ocean Warlord Mer-Man captured both Teela and the VHO, and used the latter to control the Kraken and set it against He-Man.
Working together, Teela and He-Man, with a little help from Prince Adam, managed to retrieve the VHO, defeat the Kraken and Mer-Man and arrived at Selkie Island just in time for Hovar and Justin to be saved. Once the VHO was installed on various strategially placed poles all around the explorer's camp, father and son could continue their archeological studies in peace and savety.
